friends of

st. Andrew's

Most of us have a personal reason for wanting to be associated with a church. Often it is because its baptism or marriage or burial registers contain family names. Or because we were drawn to it by its history in art or literature or music. Or because its original purpose as a place of prayer still says something to us which we fail to find elsewhere. The ‘Visitor’s Book’ is eloquent on this last reason. Or maybe this was once ‘our church’, but now we live far away and have lost our sense of belonging. So how do we belong?

By becoming a Friend of St. Andrew’s, Wormingford.

The old parish churches which are among the chief glories of Britain are alarmingly costly to run for the small worshipping communities which are in charge of them. Quite the best way to both raise funds and to widen their sacred purpose is to surround them with – Friends.

We have to carry out repairs on the tower, the roof and other parts of the fabric as well as having to provide the kind of ordinary facilities which are required these days. Churches are often works of art but they are also utilitarian. A Friend of St.Andrew’s will find both a spiritual closeness to what exists here, and help to provide the means to maintain what it means to him or her personally.

Annual subscriptions are available for £10 per person, £18 for a family, £5 for concessions and £50 for ‘Corporate Friends’. Life subscriptions are available for £150 per person and £175 for a family.
